Health & Wellness
Thanks to a grant from the Benevolence Fund of the Holy Name Province, the center established a health services program in July of 2002. This program was developed in response to the critical shortage of affordable healthcare to our local population, and especially our immigrant population.
Through the collaboration of the community center and professional medical staff, the Franciscan Community Center sponsors a number of health fairs throughout the year. Health fairs consist of: professionally administered testing/screening (i.e. Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Diabetes, EKG); educational lectures/workshops on various health topics; and referrals to other appropriate services (i.e. Counseling, Food Pantry, ESL). Follow-up visitation with medical staff is also available.
Once each year a Blood Drive is held in partnership with the New York Blood Center.
